Great Light Pack
Excellent light pack for working off an appliance, or when involved in SAR. I used this throughout the year, during the fire season it was very handy when carrying around multiple radios as well as water and some extra gear in the main pouch. I've also used it during the winter when on SAR tasks and at other jobs where it was handy being self sufficient for a few hours at a time in roles such as Incident controller. Overall it provides a stable platform for all my gear while working in tough conditions.
Awesome versatility
Great multipurpose pack for adjusting when conditions and roles change. It feels great on my back.
Great gear
I would highly recommend spyder gear!! I have been on wildland fires with other packs and they don't compare. This pack fits well and doesn't move around a lot when your working. It's also very durable!
Versatile pack for SAR
I 100% prefer the spyder gear with the Go! pack and Lynx over any traditional pack I've used for wilderness SAR so far. the pouches come with two ALICE clips each, but they're a real pain to attach to the packs webbing. Once you get the pouches where you want them though the ALICE clips stay put. The only thing I don't like about this pack is it's a little awkward having the side pouches filled too much, as it interferes with my arms when I'm walking. The pouches are also smaller then they seem, so plan on getting the Go! pack if you're packing any extra clothes.
Awesome pack
Summer of 2012 was my first time on a wildland fire. I went as a contract timber faller, and was advised to buy this pack as it was the most versatile for our duties as fallers. After being on a couple of fires I noticed that most other fallers just had their fire shelters hanging off a work belt, and would point out to them how comfortable it was, and how I barely even knew my shelter and the rest of my gear was there. I mounted the shelter on the back and the bag on my right, with the accessory pouch on my left. This left room for a wedge pouch, between the accessory pouch and the shelter. I just used a couple of alice clips and rigged my wedge pouch to hook there. Anyhow, great product and I have been highly recommending it to all fallers that are signed up on fires.
