How to Wash and Care for Your DragonWear FR Clothing

Your DragonWear gear is built for demanding work, but how you care for it matters. Proper laundering can help extend the life of your garments, maintain their appearance, and keep them ready for the job.

The good news? Caring for your DragonWear clothing is pretty straightforward. A few simple do's and don'ts can go a long way.

How to Wash Your FR Clothing

When it's time to wash your DragonWear gear, follow these care guidelines:

Turn garments inside out: This helps protect the exterior of the garment during the wash cycle.

Machine wash separately in cold water: Avoid overloading the washing machine so your garments have room to wash thoroughly.

Use a gentle laundry soap: Do not use fabric softeners, starch, or bleach of any kind.

Air dry or tumble dry on low heat: High heat isn't necessary.

Do not iron or dry clean.

Keep garments out of direct sunlight when drying or storing: This helps prevent fading.

And, of course, always check the care label on your individual garment before laundering.

What About DragonWear Super Fleece™?

If you own one of our Super Fleece™ products, you may notice some loose fibers or lint, particularly when the garment is new.

That's not necessarily a cause for concern.

Super Fleece is roughly 40% heavier fleece used in DragonWear products. The additional fibers help give the material its loft, density, and warmth. During manufacturing, the fabric is brushed and sheared, which can leave small pieces of fiber trapped in the fabric before its first wash.

How to Remove Lint from Super Fleece™

If you're seeing lint on a new Super Fleece garment:

  1. Start with a normal cold-water wash.
  2. Tumble dry the garment on low heat, making sure your dryer's lint filter is clean beforehand. This process should remove a large percentage of the loose fibers.

One wash and dry is usually enough, but you can repeat the process if needed. For any fibers that remain trapped afterward, simply run a lint roller over the garment.

Take Care of Your Gear So It's Ready When You Are

Our clothing is designed for people working in environments where their clothing needs to perform shift after shift. Giving your FR garments the right care is a simple way to help them last longer and stay ready for whatever the job throws your way.

Quick reminder: Turn it inside out. Wash cold. Use gentle soap. Skip the bleach and fabric softener. Dry low.

Your gear handles enough heat on the job. No need to give it more in the laundry room.
